
VRT - Verify, Refresh, and Train

No Prerequisite
VRT is a fresh approach for fire departments and Industrial Rescue Teams to review and preserve a team’s skill set. We verify the skill level of the rescue team members and establish a baseline skill level. Then, we identify areas for improvement and help the team with efficiency. Most importantly, we introduce the team to new techniques, equipment, and any new regulatory/standard changes.
Rope Rescue/Confined Space Rescue Operations

This course prepares individuals/teams to apply Limited Techniques in Low Angle, High Angle, and Confined Space Environments to meet the requirements of NFPA 1006 (2021) Operations-level, Standards for Technical Rescuer – Chapters 5 & 7 of NFPA 2500 (2022) Operations-level Standard on Operations and Training for Technical Search and Rescue Incidents
Skills include: Site Operations, Victim Management, PPE, Rescue Equipment & Maintenance, Ropes/Rigging, Anchor Systems, Rappelling/Ascending, Lowering/Hauling/Belay Operations, Patient Packaging, Confined Space Operations, Controlling Hazards, SCBA/SAR Operations, ICS, and Helicopter Operations.
Rope Rescue/Confined Space Rescue Technician

This course prepares individuals/teams to apply Advanced Techniques in Low Angle, High Angle, and Confined Space Environments to meet the requirements of NFPA 1006 (2017) Technician-level, Standards for Technical Rescuer – Chapters 5 & 7 of NFPA 2500 (2022) Operations-level Standard on Operations and Training for Technical Search and Rescue Incidents
Skills include: Line Transfers, Litter Attendants, High Line Systems, Knot Passing, Preplanning Confined Spaces, and IDLH Confined Space Rescue Scenarios. The final day of the course offers Confined Space & Rope Rescue Technician certification testing based on knowledge and practical skill requirements of NFPA 1006.
This certification is valid for a period of two-years.
Rope Rescue/Confined Space Technician Re-Certification
40 hours (4-10 hour days)
Prerequisite: Previous rope/confined space certification
This course provides updated regulatory procedures and industry techniques necessary to keep certification current. It is geared toward practical skill exercises relevant to meeting or exceeding the minimum standards. After certification testing, students receive documentation of individual skills proficiency in accordance with NFPA 1006 (2021) and NFPA 2500 (2022). This document is proof of an individual’s skills proficiency in accordance with OSHA 1910.146 Permit- Required Confined Space Regulation.
This certification is valid for two years.
Confined Space Awareness
8 Hours (1- 8 hour day)
No Prerequisite
Designed for industrial facilities and contractors, this course teaches students how to identify confined spaces and associated hazards. It includes recognizing the need for confined space search and rescue, initiating contact and establishing communications, performing non-entry rescue, implementing the emergency response system, and implementing site control and scene management. Students will also learn about preplanning a confined space. The class ends with an introduction of current rescue equipment and its proper use.
