ROPE RESCUE / CONFINED SPACE

Confined Space Awareness
Length: 8 Hours (1x 8-hour day).

No Prerequisite(s).

Join our Confined Space Awareness Course by RNR Rescue, a comprehensive 8-hour program designed for industrial facilities and contractors. You’ll learn to identify confined spaces, recognize associated hazards, and understand the importance of confined space search and rescue. Gain skills in initiating contact, communication, non-entry rescue, emergency response, and site control. Explore preplanning and get introduced to the latest rescue equipment and its correct usage.

This certification is valid for a period of two-years.



 

Rope Rescue / Confined Space Re-Certification

Length 40 hours (4x 10-hour days).

Prerequisite: Previous Rope Rescue / Confined Space Rescue Certification.This course provides updated regulatory procedures and industry techniques necessary to keep certification current. It is geared toward practical skill exercises relevant to meeting or exceeding the minimum standards. After certification testing, students receive documentation of individual skills proficiency in accordance with NFPA 1006. This document is proof of an individual’s skills proficiency in accordance with OSHA 1910.146 Permit Required Confined Space Regulation.

This certification is valid for a period of two-years.



Rope Rescue / Confined Space Rescue Operations

Length: 50 Hours (5x 10-hour days).

Welcome to our in-person NFPA 1006 Rope Rescue and Confined Space Technician Course, an intensive 50-hour program conducted over 5 days, with each session lasting 10 hours. This advanced training is designed for individuals who have successfully completed the prerequisites in Rope Rescue / Confined Space Rescue Operations.
Course Highlights
Lead a team in high-angle rope rescue operations.
Transfer victims between rope systems while suspended.
Master horizontal movement using a rope system.
Navigate and traverse natural or man-made structures confidently.

SPECIALIZED RESCUE / ROPE ACCESS

Advanced Rope Rescue, Operations and Technician (Backcountry)
Length 50 hours (5x 10-hour days) 

No Prerequisite(s).

Embark on an advanced rope rescue journey with RNR Rescue’s Backcountry Training Course. Discover NFPA Rope Rescue Operations and Technician skills adapted to backcountry and urban interface settings. Enhance your rigging techniques using natural elements like trees and rocks. This comprehensive course encompasses site operations, victim management, fall prevention, PPE, knots, ropes/rigging, personal mobility on rope, ICS, and real-life rescue scenarios, all conducted in outdoor environments.

The skills portion of this class will be conducted in an outdoor setting.

PPE Competent Person Certification

Length: 21-hours (3x 7-hour days)

No Prerequisite(s).

This course is available as an open enrollment or private course.

Stay compliant with ANSI Z359 standards by enrolling in RNR Rescue’s PPE Competent Person Certification Course. This program equips you to competently examine work-at-height personal protective equipment (PPE) using the Petzl protocol. Gain insights into current legislation and requirements related to fall protection PPE control. Engage in knowledge-sharing sessions with peers, explore technical advancements in PPE construction, and master Petzl’s examination protocol. Learn pre-use checks, special inspections, defect recognition, and the essential criteria for PPE safety.

Rope Access Awareness

Length: 10 Hours (1x 10-hour day).

Prerequisite: Rope Rescue Technician

This course is available as an open enrollment or private course.

Discover the fundamentals of rope access with RNR Rescue’s Rope Access Awareness Course. Designed for technically trained rescuers, this program provides awareness-level information and basic rope access skills. After completion, you’ll be equipped to conduct risk analyses at rope access job sites, assist rope access teams in rescue operations, and perform safety inspections. Hands-on training covers ascending, descending, changeovers, and rope-to-rope transfers.

This certification is valid for a period of two-years.



 

Tower Rescue Technician

Length: 40 hours (5x 8-hour days)

Prerequisite: Rope Rescue Technician.

This course is available as an open enrollment or private course.

The course covers all requirements as outlined in Chapter 23 Tower Search and Rescue of NFPA 2500 Standards on Operations and Training for Technical Search and Rescue Incidents, as well as the newly realigned NFPA 1006 Standard for Technical Rescue Personnel Professional Qualifications (2021 edition) which added several new specialty areas which now includes Tower Rescue.

Towers offer a true challenge to any rescuer. There are many hazards on and around these towers. Understanding fall protection, radio frequency hazards, microwave radiation, electrical hazards, anchoring options and limitations, edge protection concerns, climbing requirements and identifying the many different types of towers is only a part of what is covered in this course. Those who successfully complete the class will prepare for an emergency response to a high-angle rescue involving communications towers, radio towers, as well as other man-made structures.

Topics include:

  • RF Safety (radio frequency hazards, microwave radiation and electrical hazards)
  • Tower Hazards (fall protection, anchor options & limitations, rope protection concerns)
  • Tower Climbing Equipment and Techniques (climbing requirements and techniques, review of tools unique to tower work, understanding types of towers, integrated tower safety systems)
  • Tower Rescue Methods (rescue from fall protection, rescue through an obstructed path, both horizontal and vertical rescue requirements, various rope systems to accomplish complex rescues)

Testing: Both a written and a skills test will be administered at the end of class.

Trench Rescue Technician

Length: 30 hours (3x 10-hour days).

Prerequisite: General Rescuer or equivalent.

This course prepares individuals/teams to apply Advanced Techniques in Trench Environments to meet the requirements of NFPA 1006 (2021) Technical-Level Standards for Technical Rescuer – Chapter 11 and NFPA 2500 Technician-level Standard on Operations and Training for Technical Search and Rescue Incidents – Chapter 11.

Skills include: Site Operations, Victim Management, PPE and Rescue Equipment Use and Maintenance, Soil Physics & Classifications, Collapse Causes and Types, Protective Shoring and Shielding Systems, Simple Systems, and Patient Removal and Packaging.

This course meets competency requirements for OSHA 1926.650

This certification is valid for a period of two-years.


 

SPRAT I, II

Length 50 hours (5x 10-hour days).

No Prerequisite(s) for SPRAT level I.

This comprehensive training program spans four days of rope access instruction, followed by a one-day evaluation for SPRAT Certification Levels. The course is facilitated by a certified SPRAT Rope Access Technician guiding participants in acquiring the skills necessary for safe structure access using two-rope systems. The rope access segment initiates with essential work-at-height practices, progressing to specific techniques such as ascending, descending, rope transfers, and rescues on a two-rope system. The curriculum also covers structural progression with Y-lanyards, anchoring fundamentals, and a heightened awareness of through a in-depth look at Job Hazard Analysis. Successful completion of the field evaluation on the fifth day, conducted by a certified SPRAT evaluator, marks the culmination of the training.

This certification is valid for a period of three-years.



Rigging and Rescue from Scaffolding

Length: 24 Hours.

No Prerequisite(s).

This comprehensive course is designed to provide participants with in-depth knowledge and practical skills essential for safe rescue and rigging operations from scaffolding structures. Grounded in OSHA’s construction scaffold standards, the program explores the complexities of scaffold design, assembly, disassembly, and usage, while focusing on the critical aspects of rope rigging forces and scaffold modification for rescue scenarios.

Tailored for employees seeking a deeper understanding of rescue systems and scaffold modifications in the context of rescue, the course covers the intricacies of rope rigging for effective rescue operations and scaffold adaptations for emergency scenarios.

Structural Collapse Rescue

Length: 80 Hours.

No Prerequisite(s).

This introductory course provides participants with essential knowledge and skills in structural collapse rescue. Designed for emergency responders and rescue personnel, the course covers fundamental principles of structural collapse, safe search and rescue techniques, and basic shoring and stabilization methods. Through a combination of classroom instruction and hands-on exercises, participants will gain proficiency in recognizing structural hazards, employing basic search and rescue tactics, and applying rudimentary techniques for stabilizing collapsed structures. Safety Officer

Health & Safety Officer / Incident Safety Officer
Length: 16 Hour (2-8s).

No Prerequisite(s).

This course covers primarily those objectives outlined in NFPA 1521, Standard on Fire Department Safety Officer. The Standard was changed during the 1992 revision of the document to be consistent with the numbering of umbrella documents under NFPA 1500, Standard on Fire Department Occupational Safety and Health Program. NFPA 1521 provides the qualification, authority, and functions for both roles of the fire department Safety Officer.

The Health and Safety Officer (HSO) manages the occupational safety and health program, affecting safety, health, and wellness of all members.

The Incident Safety Officer (ISO)appointed to respond to or assigned at the incident scene by the Incident Commander to perform the duties and responsibilities specified in NFPA 1521.

This certification is valid for a period of two-years.



RNR Industrial Machine Rescue Training

Length: Customizable

No Prerequisite(s).

Immerse yourself in practical learning with RNR Rescue’s RNR Industrial Machine Rescue Training Course. This hands-on program provides a lifelike experience using customized props, replicating common workplace accidents involving machinery. You’ll work with hand and power tools and engage in rescue scenarios that simulate the emergency medical responses required. Explore topics such as NFPA 1670, specialized equipment, crush injuries, and collaboration with local First Responders.

This class includes, but not limited to:

  • Lock-out tag out
  • Cutting torch work
  • Impalements
  • Machine Disassembly
  • Lifting and spreading

Special Requirements: Eye & hearing protection, Fire-retardant clothing including gloves will be required for portions of the hands-on training.

ICS / Leadership

Length: 24 Hours.

No Prerequisite(s).

This course focuses on ICS for supervisors in expanding incidents. This course builds on the ICS-100 & ICS-200 courses. This course is designed to enable the IC to lead the initial incident response to an expanding industrial incident. It also addresses the strategic and tactical response issues needed to slow the expansion of an industrial incident.

HAZARDOUS MATERIALS

Hazardous Materials Awareness
8 Hours (1- 8 hour day).

No Prerequisite.
This course is available as open enrollment or a private course.

This course is intended for employees who may be exposed to hazardous materials meeting the requirements of OSHA 1910(q)(6)(i).

After completing this one-day course, students will be able to encounter an emergency involving hazardous materials. They are expected to recognize the presence of a HazMat, protect themselves, call for trained personnel, and secure the area.

Hazardous Materials Operations

16 hours (2- 8 hour days).

This course is intended for employees who may be exposed to hazardous materials meeting the requirements of OSHA 1910(q)(6)(ii).

After completing this two-day course, students will be able to identify containers, transportation & facility markings, utilize tools available to plan a response, initiate a response, personal protective equipment donning and doffing, different types of decontamination, defensive control methods, victim rescue & recovery, selecting the proper monitoring and sampling equipment.

Upon successful completion of the course, the student will receive a Hazardous Materials Operations certificate.

Hazardous Materials Technician

40 hours (5- 8 hour days or 4- 10 hour days).

Prerequisite Hazardous Materials Operations.
This course is available as open or private course.

This course is intended for employees who may be exposed to hazardous materials meeting the requirements of OSHA 1910(q)(6)(iii) for Technician-level personnel.

After completing this four (10-hour days) or five-day (8-hour days) course, students will be able to respond to emergencies involving hazardous materials for the purpose of analyzing the incident, selecting the proper PPE, procedures for decontamination, developing a plan, and implementing the action options to mitigate the incident.

Hazardous Materials Incident Command

8 to 16 hours (1- 8 hour day or 2- 8 hour days).

Prerequisite Hazardous Materials Technician.
This course is available as open enrollment or a private course.

This is intended for employees who may be exposed to hazardous materials meeting the requirements of OSHA 1910(q)(6)(iv) for Incident Command-level personnel.

After completing this course, students will be able to respond to emergencies involving Hazardous Materials (HazMat) as an incident commander and will be responsible for all incident activities, including the development of strategies and tactics, and the ordering and release of resources.

Hazardous Materials Refresher

Prerequisite Hazardous Materials Operations or Technician.
This course is available as open enrollment or a private course.

This course is intended for employees who may be exposed to hazardous materials meeting the requirements of OSHA 1910(q)(8) for Refresher-level personnel required to receive training annually to maintain their competencies.

After completing this course, students will be able to respond to emergencies involving Hazardous Materials as a Refresher to satisfy the requirement and will be responsible for understanding the training levels
